Get Your Site Seen

Email
As soon as you register your domain, create an email account and start using it so that people can see your email address as you@yourdomain.com. This is a good way to get your web name seen and to add to the professional appearance of your operation.

Include your web address in your email signature along with other contact information. This gives people an easy opportunity to visit your site, especially if they want to find out more about you quickly and easily.

Linking
Search engines often assess the strength and importance of a website by how significant a part of the rest of the internet it is. Links to your site from other, good quality websites are seen as a vote for your site. It is also important that your site links to other sites.

If you consider that links are a measure of your website's importance, your site should be a highway for web users, not a cul-de-sac. If you like a site, or believe it would be of interest to your visitors, link to it. By the same measure, ask friends, business partners and owners of other sites to link to you.

Submitting Your Website to Search Engines
This is the first step to working your way up the search engines. You can look for each search engine's 'submit url' area or use a service like DesignProHost's Traffic Blazer which does most of the hard work for you.

Open Directory One of the earliest and best established directories of websites is the Open Directory, or DMOZ. It is a non-profit organisation and it is always worth submitting your site to them as their directory is mirrored all round the World.
